POS for the unstaffed and hybrid store

In an unstaffed store the checkout is the customer's own phone: they scan the items, pay in the app and get the receipt digitally. No cash register to buy, no card terminal — and the bookkeeping is already done. The same checkout works both staffed and unstaffed.

Starting point

What a POS has to handle with no staff

An ordinary POS assumes a cashier: someone to ring up items, take payment and print a receipt. In an unstaffed store there is no such person, so the checkout has to do all of it itself — register the purchase, take payment, issue a lawful receipt and post the sale to the accounts. At JOBBS that entire checkout sits in the customer's own phone.

That makes the checkout part of a larger flow rather than a standalone box. The same system that runs the self-scanning registers the purchase, issues the receipt and hands over a finished accounting file — without you buying or wiring together three separate systems.

Four needs, one system

What the checkout handles for you

The checkout is the customer's phone No cash register and no card terminal to buy. The customer scans the items and pays on their own phone — card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Swish.
Receipts by the book Every purchase is registered and a receipt is issued in line with Swedish cash-register law, even with no staff at the till. The receipt lands straight in the phone.
The bookkeeping is already done Sales are posted automatically and the SIE4 file is generated with fees already reconciled — ready to import into Fortnox or Visma.
Weight and price barcodes Swedish weight and price barcodes are read correctly, including store-specific formats and prices embedded in newspaper codes. The customer scans, the price is right.

One platform

Why one all-in-one checkout instead of loose parts

One checkout, staffed and unstaffed. The same checkout works when staff are present and when the store switches to unstaffed hours. Prices, campaigns and rules are governed centrally — a change reaches the customer's basket instantly.

Tied to the rest of the platform. The checkout connects to access (BankID at the door), payment and accounting in one platform. That is the difference from buying a POS, an access system and a bookkeeping connector separately and making them talk to each other.

Traceable, not anonymous. In unstaffed mode every visit is tied to an identified person via BankID. That keeps shrinkage down and gives you real evidence if something does happen.

FAQ

POS for unstaffed stores — frequently asked questions

Do I need a separate POS for an unstaffed store?

No. The checkout is part of JOBBS Handel: the customer scans the items and pays on their own phone, so you avoid buying a cash register and a card terminal. The same checkout works both staffed and unstaffed.

Does the checkout meet Swedish cash-register law?

Yes. Every purchase is registered and the customer is offered a receipt in line with the cash-register law — even without staff at the till. There are exceptions and special rules for certain businesses, so check your situation with the Swedish Tax Agency or an accountant.

Does the same checkout work both staffed and unstaffed?

Yes. The store switches between staffed and unstaffed mode on a schedule, with its own rules per mode, but it is the same checkout and the same assortment throughout — that is the whole idea of a hybrid store.

How are sales recorded in the accounts?

Automatically. Sales are posted on an ongoing basis and a SIE4 file is generated with fees already reconciled, ready to import into Fortnox or Visma. No after-the-fact fixing in Excel.

Can you connect to my business system?

The platform connects to accounting via SIE4 (Fortnox, Visma) and to business systems such as Specter. Tell us what you run and we'll walk through what's possible.

What does the checkout cost?

The checkout is part of JOBBS Handel. Get in touch for a quote based on your business. Because the customer pays on their own phone, there is no cash register or card terminal to add.
