New Proximity unlock in the JOBBS app
Unlock the door with your phone, without digging through the app.
The JOBBS app notices when you approach a door you have a key to and lets you know: You're nearby, with Unlock right on the lock screen. With our controller the door can even open by itself as you arrive, phone still in your pocket.
How it works
Three ways in, chosen by the customer on their key
Pick a mode and see what happens from the street to the door.
- The member walks towards the gym with the phone in their pocket and the app closed.
- Within the door's distance the notification appears: You're nearby. Tap to unlock.
- One tap on Unlock. The server checks the key and the distance again.
- Unlocked. The opening is logged against the person in the entry log.
- The member has the JOBBS app open on the way in.
- Near the door the You're nearby panel slides up with a short vibration.
- Unlock in the panel. No key to dig out.
- Unlocked, with a green tick and a vibration.
- With Bluetooth in JOBBS Lockswitch the phone hears the door's box.
- The phone senses the member walking up and stopping at the door. Someone walking past doesn't unlock.
- The door unlocks by itself, with the phone still in the pocket.
- The notification shows Unlocking… and then Unlocked.
Requires app version 3.1.80. Automatic is available with Bluetooth in JOBBS Lockswitch; other locks open with one tap.
The modes
Notification, in the app or fully automatic
You choose what the door allows. The customer chooses on their key, up to that level.
Notification on the lock screen
The You're nearby notification arrives with the door's name and an Unlock button, even when the app is closed. The button unlocks without opening the app.
Requires: All hardware. The customer has allowed location Always for the app.
In the app
With the app open, the You're nearby panel slides up with a short vibration, one row per door and Unlock.
Requires: All hardware via the door's location, or Bluetooth in JOBBS Lockswitch.
Automatic
The door unlocks by itself as the person arrives, phone in pocket. The phone senses the person walking up and stopping; someone just walking past doesn't unlock.
Requires: Bluetooth in JOBBS Lockswitch and recorded arrivals at the door. Not for a box that controls several doors.
Security
Smoother for those coming in, just as controlled for you
A real person behind every opening
No BankID at the door. If you want, you can require whoever receives a key to verify with BankID once, when the key is accepted. Every unlock is logged against the person in the entry log.
The server checks again
When Unlock is pressed the server checks that the key is valid right now and, for location doors, that the phone is within the door's distance.
Passers-by don't unlock
In Automatic mode the door opens once per arrival, and only when the phone senses that the person stops at the door.
The customer decides
On each key the customer chooses Off, Manual or Automatic. The app never asks for location on its own for this feature.
Where it helps most
When your hands are full and the door needs to open
Hardware
Works with the locks you already have
The notification and the in-app panel go via the door's location and work with all hardware we integrate with. Automatic requires Bluetooth in our own controller.
| Hardware | Detects via | Notification | In the app | Automatic |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| JOBBS Lockswitch | Bluetooth and location | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Yale | The door's location | Yes | Yes | No |
| Axis | The door's location | Yes | Yes | No |
| Avigilon/OpenPath | The door's location | Yes | Yes | No |
| Virtual doors | The door's location | Yes | Yes | No |

FAQ
Unlocking the door with your phone: common questions
How do you unlock the door with your phone in JOBBS?
With a digital key in the JOBBS app. The customer or employee taps Unlock on the key, or lets the app tell them when they're nearby: the You're nearby notification then appears with an Unlock button. With Bluetooth in JOBBS Lockswitch, the door can also unlock by itself as the person arrives.
Do you need to open the app?
No. The Unlock button in the notification unlocks without opening the app. On iPhone the button appears when you press and hold or pull down the notification. In Automatic mode you don't need to take out the phone at all.
Does it work with the locks we already have?
The notification and the in-app panel work with all hardware we integrate with, via the door's location: JOBBS Lockswitch, Yale, Axis, Avigilon/OpenPath and virtual doors. Automatic mode requires Bluetooth in JOBBS Lockswitch.
Can the door open by mistake when you walk past?
The notification and the in-app panel never unlock by themselves; it takes a tap, and the server checks the distance again. In Automatic mode the door only unlocks when the phone senses the person walking up and stopping, once per arrival. A box that controls several doors never unlocks automatically.
How often does the notification appear?
At most once per door per ten minutes, and only for a key that is valid right now. An iPhone watches up to 20 doors at a time, the nearest first, and Android up to 90.
What about location and privacy?
The customer chooses on each key: Off, Manual or Automatic. The app never asks for location on its own for this feature, and the notification is only pre-selected for those who have already given the app location Always. When Unlock is pressed for a location door, the phone's position is sent to the server to check the distance.
What do we need to do as a business?
In admin you enter the door's coordinates and turn on Show Unlock in the app near the door, with a suitable distance. For Automatic you turn on Bluetooth on the door in JOBBS Lockswitch and record a few arrivals with the app. Customers need a current version of the JOBBS app.
